Consulting
Environmental Engineers, Planners and Scientists
Ecoplan are leaders in the environmental planning, engineering
and management sector internationally, delivering services to
the corporate, Government and non-Government sectors. We deliver
a a diverse range of services including environmental and ESD
engineering, management of carbon, energy, water, auditing,
green building design, sustainable land use planning, environmental
planning, integrated water management and ecological conservation.
Green
Building Accredited Designers
Our
specialist Green Building professionals have significant experience
in delivering a Green Star rating for clients. Green building
design strategies include cogeneration and trigeneration, active
/ passive heating, cooling and ventilation, energy efficiency
retrofit, integrated water and wastewater management, green
roofs, solar and wind renewable energy, biogas generation, zero
emission and carbon neutral buildings. Our staff have developed
Green Building rating tools such as the Green Star Public Building
Rating Tool for Government and Community Buildings, Sports Stadiums,
Public Pools and Convention Centres. Ecoplan's Green Building
experts give Ecoplan an edge in delivering Green Building performance
for their clients.
Environmental
planning and urban design
Ecoplan provides environmental and urban planning, precinct
design and deliver project management services to Corporate
and Government sectors. We conduct energy efficiency modelling
and audits, planning reviews, strategy and policy development,
decision support systems and tools such as emission reduction
targets and associated action plans and implementation. Ecoplan
delivers services to Governments in strategy, policy and legislation
incorporating consultation and public participation where neccessary.
Integrated
Water Management
Ecoplan has developed considerable expertise in the intergrated
water management field, with highly specialised modelling software
including E2 Water CAST Catchment and Water Quality Modelling,
and MUSIC (Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation).
Using complex stochastic and algorithm based hydrological and
pollutant generation parameters based on peer reviewed science
developed by researchers, Ecoplan has developed a suite of services
to build reslience and a climate ready water sector that can
harvest, treat and re-use or recycle polluted and or reclaimed
water, with associated science based water pollution reduction
targets action plans. River health and biodiversity outcomes
can be improved significantly when integrated into a holistic
framework of research and action at all levels of project development.
Ecoplan's
work with AusAid and the China Department of Water Resources
utilised Ecoplan staff in developing the institutional capacity
of the Department and line agencies including Ministries of
Finance and Economics, Urban Planning, Agriculture, Poverty
Alleviation and Womens and Community Development. Integrated
water management outcomes delivered signifcant water savings
and improved environmental performance. Ecoplan staff have worked
with Melbourne Water in Australia to develop the 5 year Better
Bays and Waterways Water Quality Improvement Plan, covering
1.3 million hectares of catchment, modelling 16 different land
uses and associated pollutant generation models, which linked
to a receiving waters model for Port Phillip and Westernport
Bay, delivering a highly accurate model for nutrients including
nitrogen, phosphorous, suspended solids, also toxicants chemicals,
heavy metals and e.coli.
Ecoplan
subsidiary Aqua Biofilter www.aquabiofilter.com provides floating
reedbed products to the water sector, removing nutrients and
pollutants efficently and cost effectively. Recent installations
include 520m2 of floating reedbed that have been installed on
Gold Coast City Council (Australia) lakes and sediment basins.
The lakes have previously experienced significant toxic blue
green algal blooms, with fish kills and public health and safety
risks. Outcomes include removing nutrients that fuel algal blooms,
eradication of algal blooms, and an increase in water transparency.
Carbon
Management
Our
specialist service provision of sourcing Certified Emission
Reductions (CERs) from accredited providers under the clean
development mechanism (CDM), is delivered under our quality
framework as established in accordance UNFCCC requirements.
We maintain close links with the UNFCCC community and maintain
strong industry, inter-Governmental and academic relationships,
with associated carbon offset and carbon finance services in
the Asia Pacific region. We deliver project planning, design
and management services for our clients under tight deadlines
across a diverse range cultural and organisational contexts.
Sustainable
Agriculture, Energy and biofuels
We provide sustainable agriculture, energy and biofuels development
services to a wide range of clients in the Asia Pacific region.
We can assist you in developing ethanol, biodiesel, biogas and
biomass energy business plans and design engineering, through
to project management and capital delivery. Technology specialisation
in anaerobic digestion, biomass gasification, fertiliser production,
biochar soil carbon conditioner. Ecoplan assists clients in
achieving a balance between food and biofuels issues, by developing
integrative strategies such as co-developing polyculture and
intensive farming areas, utilising low input methods, encouraging
sustainable community development that generates value, long
term soil stability, zero water pollution, and high productivity.
Forest
Carbon
Our work in Australia with indigenous communities, Departments
of Environment, non-Government organisations in forest land
use planning and community consultation processes for participatory
management of forests, provides a template for REDD and VCS
carbon offsets, by protecting forest carbon resources in a socially
and biodiversity inclusive approach. The usage of specialist
forest management scenario software EnSym (Environment Simulation)
that Ecoplan staff participated in the development of, is critical
to understanding and exploring possible scenarios, applying
values and beneficial uses of forest carbon, to a multi-criteria
assessment process. EnSym provides a Decision Support Systems
(DSS) for forest carbon management and investment, that is socially
inclusive, ensures food security for forest communities and
maintains ecosystem biodiversity, resilience and connevtivity
for the long term. EnSym DSS provides an ecoMarkets investment
framework to assist financial decision making in forest contexts,
with a values based approach that is integrative of competing
interests and beneficial uses.
Project
Managers
We work across all project phases including strategy and planning,
policy development and consultation, business case development,
project scoping, design and delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
We have a strong track record in delivering advisory and capacity
building across a variety of sectors globally.
